Romneys Kendal Mint Cake is an old-time energy dense bar. Used by Sir Edmond Hillary’s conquest of Everest in 1953, Romneys made special high altitude packs for the first ever successful expedition to the top of the world. Famously, a member of the expedition is quoted as saying of the Kendal Mint Cake, “It was easily the most popular item of our high altitude ration – our only criticism was there there was not enough of it”
